This page is here to answer most questions you may have about doing business with Seitech Products. If you have any further questions that are not answered here, just drop us an email, and we'll fill you in.
1) Are spare parts available for my dolly?
Yes, SEITECH stocks a complete line of parts to replace fasteners and wheels as well as plastic and aluminum components. Feel free to give us a call or order them online.
2) Can a dolly be towed behind a vehicle?
Yes... and no. We do offer trailer hitch couplers which can be attached to our dollies for towing purposes at speeds less than 10 mph and distances less than 100 yards. Our couplers are intended for used behind golf carts, ATVs, and similar vehicles in boat yards, beaches, and other private property. The couplers are available with a 1 7/8" or 2" receiver. It is important to note that our dollies should never be towed on a public road and are not designed for this purpose.
3) Can one person move a boat on a SEITECH dolly?
That depends on the individual's strength, the surface on which the dolly is being used, as well as the angle of the surface. Many younger sailors have no trouble moving an Optimist and dolly on a grass or asphalt surface at a club dinghy area. Moving a 14' rigid inflatable boat with a motor and fuel over sand dunes will be a more difficult task for even the most athletic user. We strive to keep our "handle weight" at 10-15 pounds as well as having the boat's center of gravity correctly balanced. This "balanced" feel of a SEITECH dolly is one of our most important features, and is the result of years of experience designing specific dollies for specific boats.
4) Does a dolly break down for travel or storage?
Most dollies break down into smaller components, without tools, for easier transportation. The size of the subcomponents depends on the size of the particular dolly in question.
5) Does SEITECH build dollies for PWCs?
Production of PWC dollies (Jetskis, Waverunners, etc.) has been suspended indefinitely. Current PWC designs are too heavy for our dollies.
6) How can I find out the status of my SEITECH order?
Email us at info@seitech.com or call us at 401-683-6898. Most standard dollies ship within 48 hours while racks and custom orders may take up to 2-3 weeks. We will do our best to email you UPS tracking numbers.
7) Is it OK to use my SEITECH dolly in salt water?
Yes, all SEITECH dollies are designed to be used in both salt and fresh water. However, we do recommend rinsing the dolly, and especially the wheels and bearings, with fresh water after use in a salt water environment.
8) Is there a warranty on SEITECH products?
Yes, there is a one year warranty on all SEITECH products against defects in workmanship and material when properly used, cared for, and maintained. We will replace, free of charge, any part which proves under examination to be defective under normal use. The Warranty Request form can be found in the Support Document Section.
9) What if I can't find my boat listed for a dolly?
Please fill out our dolly recommendation form on the website and a member of the SEITECH team will recommend a dolly that will best suit your boat.
10) What size boats are appropriate for a SEITECH dolly?
While there are a number of variables that we consider when designing dolly, the most important is gross or "wet" weight. This is the weight of the boat plus rigging, fuel and motor, and the family dog! Generally we build dollies for boats where the gross weight is less than 500 pounds.
11) What tools do I need to assemble my new SEITECH dolly?
The only tools needed are a #3 Phillips screwdriver, and a rubber mallet, or a soft blow mallet. Assembly instructions can be found in the Support Document Section and with the specific dolly listing.
12) What's the difference between "IP" and "PC" parts listed in the catalog?
The parts are from the same mold and fit exactly the same but they are made from different materials. "IP" parts are made of Isoplast, which is a heavier duty polymer for use with dollies for heavier boats over 250 pounds (like double handed sailboats and boats with outboard motors). "PC" parts are molded out of reinforced Polycarbonate and are used on small boat dollies for boats such as the Sunfish and Laser which are less than 250 pounds. It is also the most commonly used joint on our rack systems. Both IP and PC components are 100% UV protected to provide long life for your SEITECH dolly or rack.
